The figure below, not drawn to scale, shows a parallelogram ABCD. ∠ AFG = 810, ∠ BAG = 220 and ∠ ADC = 1230. Find ∠ ABG. Solution:

ABCD is a parallelogram,

∠ ABC = ∠ ADC = 1230

AD//BC and EB is a straight line,

∠ EBC = ∠ AFB = 810

∠ ABG = 1230 – 810 = 420

Alternative solution:

ABCD is a parallelogram,

∠ BAD = 1800 – 1230 = 570

ABF is a triangle,

∠ ABG = 1800 – 810 – 570 = 420
