Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ548

In the figure below which is not drawn to scale, EFGH is a parallelogram. O is the centre of the circle.

Find,

(a)        ∠ OFE

(b)        ∠ OHG

Solution:

Since O is the centre of the circle,

The radius, OH = OE = OF

OFE is an isosceles triangle,

∠ OFE =∠ OEF

∠ OFE +∠ OEF = 1800 – 800 = 1000

∠ OFE = 1000 ÷ 2 = 500

EFGH is a parallelogram,

And

∠ OEF = ∠ OFE = 1000 ÷ 2 = 500

∠ OHG = 1800 – 500 = 1300
