Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ537

Every month, Sarin’s father saved \$320 of his salary and spent the rest. In the month of Ramadan, his father spending increased by 4% and only managed to save \$240. How much was Sarin’s father salary?

Solution:

The difference in saving = 320 – 240 = \$80

The difference is equal to the 4% increase in spending in Ramadan month,

4% ==> 80

1% ==> 20

100% ==> \$2000 (Spending in each month)

Sarin’s father salary is \$2000 + \$320 = \$2320
