Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ446
Sarin, Hairu and Fatimah had spent an amount of money during the Great Singapore Sale. Sarin and Hairu spent $46 altogether. Sarin and Fatimah spent $54 altogether. Fatimah and Hairu spent $68 altogether. What was the ratio of Hairu’s spending to the total sum of money they spend?
Work out the model base on their combination of spending
Sarin’s money = 46 – 30 = $16
Fatimah’s money = 68 – 30 = $38
Total spending = 30 + 16 + 38 = $84
The Ratio, Hairu’s spending to total spending = 30 : 84 = 5 : 14
