The bar chart shows the number of visitors at The Esplanade Library in a week.

(a) How many fewer people visited The Esplanade Library on Monday than on Saturday and Sunday?

(b) If there were 545 adults in The Esplanade Library on Friday, how many children were there?

Solution:

Total number of visitors on Monday = 750.

Total number of visitors on Saturday = 800.

Total number of visitors on Sunday = 700.

There are 800 + 700 – 750 = 750 fewer people on Monday than Saturday and Sunday.

Total number of visitors on Friday = 750.

There are 545 adults

Therefore, 750 – 545 = 205 children were there.
