Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ310

Sarin and Fatimah shared the total cost of a present the bought during Ramanda. Sarin paid $24 more than 3/7 of the cost of the present. Fatimah paid $28. How much did the present cost?

The amount paid by Fatimah was $28

Sarin paid the rest and was 3/7 fraction of the cost of the present plus $24

            Draw the fraction model

            Per the model

                        4 units = 28 + 24 = 52

                        1 unit = 13

                        The cost of the present = 7 × 13 = $91
