Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ294

Sarin, Fatimah and Hairu have some money in their coin banks. If Sarin gives $26 to Hairu, both boys will have the same amount of money each. If Fatimah gives $15 to Hairu, she will have the same amount of money as Hairu. How much more money does Sarin have than Fatimah?

 

Solution:

            Sarin gives $26 to Hairu so that they have same amount of money

            The amount of money Sarin more than Hairu is twice the amount he gives to Hairu

            Similarly, the amount of money Fatimah more than Hairu is twice the amount she gives to Hairu

            Sarin has 26 × 2 – 15 × 2 = $ 22 more than Fatimah
