Sarin has 2 coins. His father gives him 7 coins. He inserts 4 coins to his coin bank. What fractions of his coins are left?

Solution:

            Draw the model

 

            Per the above model,

            The number of coins left = 2 + 7 – 5

            The total number of coins = 2 + 7 = 9

            The fraction of coins left = 5/9
