Lower primary school mathematics question LPQ62

Hairu needs to multiply a number by 4 then add 6 to it and writes down the answer. Instead he added 6 to it then multiplied by 4. The answer he got is 36. What should be the correct answer?

Solution:

 

            First find the number

            36 ÷ 4 = 9

            9 – 6 = 3

            The number is 3

            Find the answer by compute the number as need to

            The correct answer = 3 × 4 + 6 = 12 + 6 = 18
