Sarin pasted few pieces of colour papers to form a flower shape figure and used it to decorate his greeting card. In the flower shape figure below, AMB, CMD, EMF, GMH and PMQ are straight lines. Find (∠ a + ∠ b + ∠ c + ∠ d + ∠ e + ∠ f + ∠ g + ∠ h + ∠ p + ∠ q).

Solution:

AMB, CMD, EMF, GMH and PMQ are straight lines

For a triangle, sum of all three inner angles = 1800

∠ AMQ = ∠ PMB = 1800 – ∠ a – ∠ q

∠ AMC = ∠ BMD = 1800 – ∠ b – ∠ d

∠ CME = ∠ DMF = 1800 – ∠ c – ∠ e

∠ EMG = ∠ FMH = 1800 – ∠ h – ∠ f

∠ GMP = ∠ HMQ = 1800 – ∠ g – ∠ p

∠ AMQ + ∠ CME + ∠ GMP + ∠ BMD + ∠ FMH = 1800

9000 – ∠a  – ∠ b – ∠ c – ∠ d – ∠ e – ∠ f – ∠ g – ∠ h – ∠ p – ∠ q = 1800
