Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ187

Fatimah is 8 years old. When she reaches her mother’s present age, her mother would be 62 years old. How old is Fatimah’s mother now?

 Solution:

 

            Draw the math model,

 

                From the model,

                2U = 62 – 8 = 54

                1U = 27

                Fatimah’s mother is 27 + 8 = 35 years old
