Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ161

Sarin, Hairu and Fatimah received $49 from their father as pocket money. Hairu received twice as much money as Sarin. Fatimah received twice as much money as Hairu. How much pocket money did Sarin receive?

 Solution:

Solve by drawing the math model based on the portions of money each received

If sarin received 1 unit of money then Hairu should received 2 units of money

If Hairu received 2 units of money then Fatimah shared should be 4 units.

                        Draw the model,

                         From the model,

                                                7 units = 49

                                                1 unit = $7

                                                Sarin’s pocket money is $7
