Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ109

The figure below is made up of 6 cubes of 3 different sizes. What is the ratio of the total volume of the small cubes to the total volume of the medium cubes to the volume of the large cube?

Solution:

                                                We take small cube as reference

                                                Number of small cubes = 3

                                                Number of medium cubes = 2 ==> 2 × 8 = 16 small cubes

                                                Number of large cube = 1 ==> 1 × 9 × 3 = 27 small cubes

                                                Ratio = 3 : 16 : 27
