Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ107

In the figure below, ABCD is a square. AFD and BCF are isosceles triangles. Find ∠ AFB.

Solution:

                       AFD is isosceles triangle

                       ∠ DAF + ∠ ADF = 1800 – 720 = 1080

                       ∠ DAF = ∠ ADF = 1080  ÷ 2 = 540

                        ABCD is a square, ∠ DAB =∠ ABC = 900

                        ∠ FAB = 900 – 540 = 360

                        ∠ ABF = 900 – 200 = 700

                        ∠ AFB = 1800 – 360 – 700 = 740
