Upper primary school mathematics question UPQ57

 

In the figure shown below, not drawn to scale, AB and CD are straight lines.

 

∠ AEC = 1290, ∠ DEF = 650 and EFB is an isosceles triangle. Find ∠ x.

 

Solution:

 

            ∠  BED = ∠  AEC = 1290

 

            ∠  BEF = 1290 – 650 = 640

 

            EFB is an isosceles triangle, ∠  BEF = ∠  EBF

 

            ∠  x = 1800 – 640 – 640 = 520
