Sarin’s family goes early to The Esplanade as they want to celebrate the mother’s day by first visiting the performing art library at third level of The Esplanade.  The library is called The library@esplanade and is the Singapore’s first one-stop resource library for the performing arts. It was officially opened on 12 September 2002. The library also offers information and services in the areas of music, dance, theatre and film.

They will have their dinner in the dinning place of The Esplanade before attending the concert.

Mathematical model

When 12 more girls came in the library, there were 5/6 as many girls as boys.

For 1 unit = 132÷11=12

Number of boys in the library =12×6 = 72    (Answer for part a)

Number of girls in the library = 120-72 = 48

Fraction of girls at first in the library = 48/120 = 2/5 (Answer for part b)
